Version 6.4 of this software includes the following functionality and features -

Flight Planning:

·        Produces comprehensive flight plans in various formats, including the Australian domestic format, the New Zealand format and the ICAO format, and the flight note format.  The software is suitable for use by private pilots, charter companies, flying schools, regional airlines, international carriers and search & rescue groups operating anywhere in the world!

·        Supplied with an extensive database of waypoints covering requirements for all VFR and IFR operations.  VFR reporting points and IFR turning points, every licensed airfield, thousands of unlicensed airfields, all NAVAIDS and thousands of cities, towns, stations, etc.  All international airports across the world are also in the database and an unlimited number of user waypoints can be added.  Each waypoint in the database includes latitude and longitude, magnetic variation, navaids, airfield information, frequencies (FIA, TWR, SMC, ACD, APP, DEP, ATIS, CTAF, PAL, AWIB), ARFOR area number, broadcast station frequency.

·        Flight plans, waypoints and aircraft details can be uploaded to the CoPilot software on the Palm PDA, and also used by FlightMaster on the Palm.  CoPilot is a comprehensive flight planning package & FlightMaster is GPS software.

·        Printed output can be the ICAO International Flight Plan, the Australian Domestic Flight Notification, the New Zealand flight plan, a detailed flight plan, flight note, or a flight summary sheet with all details including flight costing.

·        Unlimited aircraft definitions can be entered with over 200 common aircraft definitions supplied in the sample aircraft database.  Aircraft data can range from eight basic data items to over 420 items for each aircraft, with only the eight basic data items required in order to produce a flight plan. Additional data can be entered as desired to accurately profile the aircraft performance (0 to 60,000 feet), producing extremely accurate flight plans and fuel usage calculations.  Single and multi-engine aircraft are supported including ultralights, homebuilts, light single and twin-engine aircraft, high performance turbo-prop types, jets, heavy jets, and helicopters.

·        Comprehensive fuel management caters for climb, cruise, alternate, holding, area work, taxi, and fixed and variable reserves.  The use of multiple fuel tanks is supported and fuel units can be litres, US gallons, Imperial gallons or pounds.  Fuel and ETI calculations automatically include provision for climb sections of the flight.

·        Information on over 3000 airfields is provided in the waypoint database (Australia).  The information of each airfield can include elevation, runways (direction, length, width and surface), navaids, frequencies, approach aids, runway lighting, landing fees, fuel availability, owner details including telephone number, operational considerations, nearest town and accommodation availability.  In addition to this the software contains diagrams for most airfields including runway layout, windsocks, buildings, parking areas, helipad location etc.

·        A database of all (IFR) LSALTS is provided (Australia and New Zealand versions) and can be automatically included on the flight plan.  An unlimited number of user LSALTS can be added.  Grid LSALTS are calculated and displayed for any route where no published IFR LSALT or user LSALT is available.

·        Wind information can be nil winds, a specific wind, or an area wind.  The software will indicate which area forecasts are required for each flight and will automatically include winds for the appropriate level from the area winds if available.  Area winds are retained for use in subsequent flight plans for 12 hours, and then automatically deleted.

·        A flight plan optimisation feature will automatically optimise the cruising levels for minimum ETI’s, if requested.

·        Flight plans can consist of up to 40 route segments.  Fuel calculations are produced for the first 7 flight stages. Flight segments can be planned direct or abeam intermediate waypoints.

·        ATS Route designators, alternates, holding and AREA WORK are supported in flight plans.  A database if IFR routes and preferred routes (Australia) is provided and any route can be included in a flight plan automatically.

·        IFR flight tracks are calculated NAVAID to NAVAID, while VFR flights tracks are airfield to airfield.

·        Full support is provided for operations under “flight number” flights, for approved and unapproved operators.

·        Track information and be Magnetic or True, for operations in the polar regions or for special navigation requirements.

Flight Preparation:

·        Accurate great circle tracks and distances are calculated for each flight segment.

·        Flight costing details are automatically calculated and can be viewed on the screen and/or printed.  Provides for associated costs such as landing fees, accommodation, meals, etc.

·        First and last light is calculated for each landing point in the flight plan, and the Morse code ident for each enroute navaid is shown.

·        A NAIPS interface is provided (pre-configured for the Australian NAIPS computer access) to allow weather and NOTAMS to be downloaded and flight plans to be submitted.  This functionality is fully automatic – weather and NOTAMS are those specific to the flight and ICAO, Australian Domestic or Sartime flight notifications are supported. Automatic decode of the NAIPS weather into plain English is provided.  Weather charts can also be displayed.

·        Full graphical weight and balance calculations can be displayed and printed for each departure and landing point in the flight plan.  The movement of the aircraft C of G is shown on the aircraft envelope from each departure point to subsequent landing point. Aircraft takeoff weight, landing weight and zero fuel weight can be checked at each takeoff and landing point.

·        CP and PNR calculations can be performed for multi-engine aircraft, including engine out and depressurised ops.

·        The completed flight plan can be displayed on the computer screen, including flight costing details.

·        A Route Map of the flight route can be viewed on the screen and/or printed.  This display can be to show the route in as much detail as required.  The map data includes high resolution Australian coastline data and medium resolution map data for the remainder of the world.  The map is auto-scaling and the scale can be increased (to display the complete world map) or decreased (to show coastline in fine detail). In addition extra information can be selected for display on the map.  For example the map can display Controlled Airspace, Prohibited/Restricted/Danger areas, ATS routes, FIS, ARFOR areas, CTAF waypoints, or all waypoints with an airfield (or navaid), or airfields with a runway greater than a specified length only can be displayed.  Supports point and click flight planning on the map.

·        A Route Profile can be viewed and printed.  Shows the vertical profile of the flight including TOC, TOD information.

·        Waypoints for the flight can be uploaded to any GPS supporting the NMEA 0183 or Garmin protocols.

·        Flight plans, maps, W&B envelopes and airfield diagrams can be printed – up to A3 size.

·        Flight plans can be generated to anywhere in the world.  All packages include data for over 550 international airports across the world.  Any number of flight plans can be saved on the computer for later use.  These can be recalled, modified and reused any number of times.
