FLIGHT PLANNER 3000 V6.5b UPDATE PACKAGE

 

Enclosed is a Flight Planner 3000 update package supplied as part of your Annual Update Service. Install the software by running the SETUP utility on the CD; insert the CD and wait for it to activate.  If it doesn’t start automatically click START then RUN then enter X:Setup (where X is your CD drive number) in the open box and press OK.  Refer to section 3.2 of the User Manual or the online help for detailed installation instructions.  We strongly recommend that you backup the user data component of the Fight Planner 3000 software (via the Backup drop down menu on the Aircraft Screen) prior to installing any updates.

 

The latest User Manual is available to be downloaded from our WWW site in Adobe PDF format (http://www.champagnepcservices.com.au/htmldocs/flightplan2000prodsupport.htm), or on the installation CD.   The online help provided with the software contains all of the information in the User Manual.  You can also order a complete new software kit on CD-ROM for $15 + GST in conjunction with your update service.

 

The effective date for this FP3000 software for Australian use and also for New Zealand use is 20th November, 2008.  There is information in this software release that becomes effective on this date and user of the software prior to this date is not recommended.

 

Principal new features:

·      New interface with Google Earth.  If you have Google Earth installed on your PC you can display the Google Earth view of any airfields and also display your flight plan.  For airfield view, press Control/G on the Segment Screen, or click the Google Earth button at the bottom of the Segment Detail Screen or the Waypoint Detail Screen, or Right click on the Route Map Screen.  For flight plan view, click the new Google Earth View button on the Segment Screen, or the Google Earth menu item at the top of the Options Screen, or Right click on the Route Map Screen.  Refer to the FP3000 User manual for more detail & error reporting.

·      Selected Australian NAIPS charts are now available from FP3000.  Click on CHARTS at the top of the NAIPS Weather & Notams screen.

·      Added the ability to display “weather reference” locations on the Route Map display.  Click the CHANGE INFO button on the Route Map display to access this feature.

·      Weather Decode. Get the weather via NAIPS (built in to FP3000) and you can get a complete decode of the weather into plain English.  Yes, FP3000 will DECODE the cryptic weather from NAIPS and display it in PLAIN ENGLISH, including converting all of those obscure meteorological abbreviations, location abbreviations, complex date-time fields, plus Zulu times are converted to local time, and more.  Area forecasts, TAF’s, METAR’s, TEMPO’s, INTER’s, SPECI’s, TTF’s etc. are all covered.

·      FP3000 software can now be licensed to a memory stick.  This makes the software extremely portable for travelling users who can now just take the memory stick and flight plan any computer available.  No installation is required and all of your flight plans are instantly available.  You can even connect to NAIPS.

 

Other recent FP3000 V6 changes:

·      Improved quality flight plan printouts.  All printouts have been upgraded.

·      The first screen and also HELP>ABOUT now displays and “Effective Date” and “Next Issue (date)” at the recommendation of a CASA auditor.  This applies to the Australian data content of the package.

·      The last column on the Detail flight plan printout is now configurable - use it for Area frequency, NAVIAID frequency, destination fuel or route qualifier.  Select your choice via CONFIG>CONFIGURATION SETTINGS>FLIGHT PLAN 1 tab.

·      Passenger manifest feature available on the W&B screen.  Data appears on the W&B printout.

·      Easy user waypoint creation feature – just right click on the map!  The magnetic variation can now be automatically calculated on the waypoint data screen.

·      Pilot Alerts.  Use Config>Configuration settings to set an alert notification for an approaching license or medical check.

·      Route profile.  Shows a vertical profile of your flight including TOC and TOD points, LSALT, times at significant points.

·      Palm Pilot connection.  Supports the transfer of waypoints, aircraft data and flight plans to the CoPilot software on the Palm PDA.

·      Pilot Selection facility.  Configure the FP3000 software for a specific set of pilots (and guests), with optional password access.

 

Please note:

1.    Do NOT delete previous versions of the software when updating.

2.    Should you need to revert to the previous version of the software just re-install the previous update.  Don’t delete anything.

3.    Update kits are not a complete release of the software. They must be loaded onto a computer already licensed and operating the Flight Planner 3000 software. Refer to the user manual (section 3.2) or online Help for installation instructions. 

4.    The software must be installed in the same directory as the original software was.  Failure to do this will result in the software reporting a license error and failing to operate.  If this situation occurs the update diskette should be re-installed, specifying the correct directory. We recommend installing the software in the C:\FP3000 directory, -the default directory for all installations.

5.    If you upgrade or change your computer the Flight Planner 3000 software will display a licensing error message.  Contact Champagne PC Services (0419 955704 or by email, 9am to 6pm, WST) to arrange a license transfer.
